Beechcliffe School is delighted to share that we have been named Sustainability Champions of the Year at the SkillsHouse Careers and Technical Education (CTE) Awards 2026.
The award recognises the outstanding contribution our students have made to the local community through an inspiring sustainability project delivered in partnership with the Gateway Centre in Ravenscliffe.
Working together, students transformed outdoor spaces at the centre, creating a wildlife-friendly garden and improving the grounds for local people to enjoy. The project showcased students’ creativity, teamwork and commitment to environmental responsibility.
As part of the initiative, students repurposed old school tables and wooden pallets that would otherwise have gone to waste, transforming them into attractive planters for nursery children and senior citizens. Their innovative approach not only reduced waste but also created lasting benefits for the wider community.
The project helped strengthen connections between generations, encouraged community pride and promoted sustainable practices, leaving a positive legacy that will be enjoyed for years to come.
The SkillsHouse CTE Awards celebrate excellence in vocational learning and career development across the Bradford district. This year’s event brought together students, educators and employers, with 122 finalists competing across 22 categories and support from 20 employer sponsors.
The awards recognise achievements in leadership, creativity, problem-solving, teamwork and sustainability, making Beechcliffe’s success even more special.
We are incredibly proud of all the students involved in the project. Their hard work, dedication and passion for making a difference have been recognised on a district-wide stage, demonstrating the positive impact young people can have when they work together to support their community and the environment.
